Biography:

Greetings!

I am Regina Pinckney Stephens, a Native of Charleston (James Island to be exact) and a 1993 graduate of Winthrop University. Later I received my Masters from Lesley University in Curriculum and Instruction (with a Specialization in the Creative Arts) and University of South Carolina in Library and Information Science.

My career began in Jasper County where I taught Second Grade for a year and Kindergarten for five years. In 1999, it was time to move back home.

Currently, I am a Teacher Librarian at Springfield Elementary. I truly enjoy working with the diverse population at Springfield.

There is nothing like seeing children grow and blossom in productive and strong citizens.

On October 16, 2010, I married the love of my live, Bobby Stephens and gained an instant family.

To God be the Glory!

Classroom Connections Reflections:

Objective: 5-4.1 Summarize daily life in post WWI period of the 1920s, including improvements in the standard of living, transportation, and entertainment; the impact of the 19th Amendment, the Great Migration, the Harlem Renaissance, Prohibition, and racial/ethnic conflict.

With so many important historical events connect to the 1920's, I would like to create a video to highlight some of the events and hopefully peak the students interest. A presentation of various events, music, facts and photos in a video form will hopefully catch the students attention. After viewing the video and completing other activities, they will pick one aspect of the 1920s and create their own video. With such a distinct time period, this video will be a user friendly creation to introduce 5th grades to the "Roaring Twenties."
